    This homepage is a step by step instruction on how to install YLam Input Method in Microsoft English Windows XP.

Step 1 Some preparatory step for English Windows XP
    Make sure your Windowx XP has Traditional Chinese Support. To do so, go to control panel:

    In Control Panel, choose "Date, Time, Language and Regional Options"

    Then choose "Add other languages"

    Then choose "Install Files for East Asian Languages".

    Click on O.K. to install files for East Asian Languages. After that, your Windows XP should be ready for my Chinese input program.

Step 2 Downloaad and install

If you want to use Traditional Input Method,  Download and install YLam (Traditional Chinese) UNICODE

If you want to use Simplified Input Method, Download and install YLam (Simplifed Chinese) UNICODE

If you want to use both, you can download both.

You can just restart the computer and the input method should be already there.

If you don't want to restart computer, then you have to add the input method manually through control panel.

Go to Start Menu -> Control Panel -> "Date, Time, Language and Regional Options" -> "Regional and Language Option"

    Then click "Details..." in "Text Services and input languages"

    Then click on  "Add" in the "Installed Services".

    If you downloaded Traditional Chinese Input version, in "Add Input Language",  choose "Chinese (Taiwan)" in Input Language and "YLam Input Method (Traditional Chinese Unicode)"

    If you downloaded Simplified Chinese Input version, in "Add Input Language",  choose "Chinese (PRC)" in Input Language and "YLam Input Method (Simplified Chinese Unicode)"

    Then click on OK etc. You should see the input method added.

      Click on "Apply" and then "OK" to accept.

Step 3 Start the input method

    Now you should be able to start the Chinese input method. Use Internet Explorer, and start the input method by selecting Chinese language in "Language Bar".

Step 4 Loading Input method table

    You have to download a input method before you can use it.
